Listen to This

As ee(a)rie as it may sound, artist Stelios Arcadious is known for pushing the boundaries, He literally spent 10 years searching for a surgeon who would be willing to perform the controversial operation of having a third ear implanted into his forearm. Believe it or not, Stelios Arcadious has had the third ear created in a lab from cells and implanted into his skin

He got his wish after working as a Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University's Digital Research Unit. The ear was grown in a lab from cells and implanted into the 61-year-olds left forearm in 2006.

Mr. Arcadious states that art: "should be more than simply illustrating ideas…it is more of a relief at present than an ear but it is still recognizable as an ear." Once the ear is fully developed he hopes to get a microphone implanted as well as a tiny transmitter so that people can see this performance artist as a living exhibit and hear the sounds that his arm/third ear is picking up.
